The most significant upgrade was that of Makin' Magic, which provided a baker's oven which allows Sims to prepare more types of food, as long as the required ingredients were in the Sim's inventory. In Unleashed, dogs and cats can be fed pet food using a food bowl. Livin' Large added Servo, which will produce food when told to serve a meal.

This food is bought from buy mode, and is ready to eat when purchased. Later expansion packs provided more food for Sims to eat, including a birthday cake, cookies, and turkey. But you do have to be careful not to install more than one version of the same mod as many of them offer different 'flavors' of the same thing on the same MTS pages. None of these mods conflict with each other, if anything these developers worked really hard to make their creations cross-compatible. I'm probably leaving a couple of things and developers out by accident, but this might be enough to get you started. These are now outdated, Cinderellimouse took over this one and it's her versions that are current. You may also find Ingredients Overhaul mods by BlackCat007 and Anak_Ponti in your travels.
